Following a recent increase in business, GB Rail Freight approached us recently regarding the hire of 55 022 for use on a freight working covering a total of 36 miles per day, operating 2 round trips between North Blyth and Lynemouth.
The job has progressed far quicker than originally planned and we are delighted to announce that 55 022 should be departing from the east Lancashire railway at around 14.00 this afternoon, heading light engine to North Blyth and is then planned to work the service until around the July 1st.
D9016 will stand in for 55 022’s footplate experience day at the ELR on Friday 15th April. Arrangements have been made for 55 022 to be in position to still work the Easter Deltic event at the ELR and booked railtours for the SRPS and Spitfire.
Thanks to GB Railfreight, particularly John Thompson and Steve Turner. Dave Greenwood and Jonny Stevenson for preparing the loco and completing the necessary Fitness To Run examination at such short notice and all at the ELR for their valued co-operation.
Thanks & Best Wishes,
